Students are analyzing the carbs in different foods, such as wheat bread, flour, sugar, honey, wheat cracker and more.
They applied a drop of iodine to determine what shade it turns: black/dark blue or tan. We had a lot of black products which indicated complex carbs. The tan was a bit more difficult for them to observe since they had so much iodine on the product. We’ll see what second period observes tomorrow.
Next up is our high and low carb pizza lab. Students are ready for some pizza.
Students told me they were not eating the products before I told them it was not a taste testing lab like the beans. Oh well, at least they were honest 🙂
