This is a new mini-lab I threw in the cooking methods unit this year.
Next time, I think I might do it before the soup lab and save the croutons for the soup. Either way this was one frugal lab since I already had a loaf of bread in the freezer. I used butter on hand, but olive oil also works. This was a perfect lab for students to choose their own seasoning and taste and smell different spices.
I found bag salad on clearance for 1.50 each and two bags worked for my small class of 15. Of course, it was a snack size mug salad, but it totally satisfied them.
A little salad goes a long way.
