Foods 1 students are cooking up some very yummy and healthy veggies this week. They are learning the technique of stir-frying and how to make rice. We reviewed slicing skills and practiced breaking broccoli into florets. Simple skills to study how vegetables reduce the risk of heart disease, low in calories and full of antioxidants. It’s always nice to reinforce mincing garlic since it’s a state question.
And garlic and onion make everything tastier, don’t you think?
Students got some pointers from Jamie Oliver and Mrs. Brown. We discussed how the kale should be added at the end since it’s not quite as dense as the broccoli.
Some students did their own stir-frying since they didn’t agree with all the added veggies.
Stephon is doing a bang up job with his kale.
Noelle looks like a pro in the kitchen.
Dylan is dovetailing the rice and veggies nicely.
Julie and Haebeen agree it’s fantastic.
Easy Vegetable Stir-Fry is what’s for breakfast and lunch in Foods class.
