Unshortened Cakes (Angel Food Cake)


First day of cake week and angel food is our first creation.

Students learn about the high quality characteristics via Prezi and we make create one using 9 egg whites. Our lesson continues trying different ways to separate the eggs according to a youtube via Lindsey Bakes.

Finally after hanging on a bottle and cooling, the students are ready to slice the cake with a bread knife in a sawing motion as described on the test.

We also made yummy lemon curd using the yolks the next day. In the future, I think I’ll have them make it on the same day while the cake is baking so the curd can be chilled.
