Learning how to cream and beat in Foods 1

Students got a lesson how to use our kitchen aid mixers on Monday. We first tripled the recipe for our Snickerdoodle cookie party. After we knew how much of each product we were using I gave the students a Kitchen Aid Tutorial since many of them have never seen a stand mixer.

Then I introduced students to creaming butter and sugar. I showed them how to beat in eggs one at a time. We sifted dry ingredients and  combined them with the sugar mixture. I stressed the importance of seasoning with the cinnamon and sugar mixture we made.

Next, I divided the dough into fourths and passed out enough for each group to bake a dozen in their kitchen groups. These cookies are an easy recipe to make using staple ingredients. It teaches students how important correct measuring is when baking.
