Who needs a grocery store when Mrs. Brown brings one to you? I purposely have my students shop and compare labels. They are looking for nutrients, expiration dates, comparing sodium, minerals and vitamins, etc.
It’s a hands-on experience most of them have never done.
It takes little effort to collect items from a household of six members. I try to include a variety of food labels for glueten-free, fat-free, full fat, sugar-free, whole fruits and vegeteables and more.
It’s a gallery walk finding items found in different types of stores, like a warehouse store. Do you recognize any items that came from Sam’s wholesale?
Last, students are making smarter shopping choices by looking for generic and comparing sizes for the best unit price.
