Preparing for our Indoor Culinary Garden

It’s been a busy week introducing food choices in Foods 1. During summer conference I attend a farm to fork pre-conference and got intrigued with straw bale gardening. I was so excited when I returned home I immediately wrote a grant to obtain the items for our classroom.

We were blessed within 3 days with the grant fully funded!

So I have my students putting together a mobile garden for our classroom herbs.

It’s going to be fun put the students in charge of this project and keep a daily chart on growth. Many of my students need a hands-on project like this one to keep them occupied.

Assembling equipment definitely involves problem-solving and critical thinking. Reading and math, oh yes.

Step-by-step photos are always nice.

Stage 1 of assembly is almost done thanks to our girls, LuLu and Tahtiona,

in Foods 1.
